What is Taxi and Ride-hailing Practice?

Taxi and Ride-hailing Practice is an unofficial study tool from DOBBY MIDNIGHT for Hong Kong’s Taxi and Ride-hailing Vehicle Combined Written Test. You study Part A or Part B, cycle missed items, then sit a timed combined mock — so places, the code and routes stick. Items are paraphrased from public Transport Department materials; they are not live exam papers.

Official sources: TD combined written test page, combined test booklet, and the Road Users’ Code. This site does not replace official channels.

Key takeaways

  • Buy once, no ads: no subscription, no sign-in; Family Sharing (as shown on the App Store).
  • About 1,178 items: 783 Part A + 395 Part B (v40). Study, mocks and the AI tutor need a network.
  • How to study: diagnose by part, drill misses, then a 65-question / 45-minute combined mock (finish A before B).
  • Unofficial: an in-app pass is a mock result, not an official pass.

Item counts and timing follow the latest published combined format. Place items open maps / encyclopaedia. Ride-hail-weighted papers, printable A4 mock papers and network study included.

Curated and updated bank

Study paraphrases organised from public materials. Spot a problem, tap Report this question. About 783 Part A and 395 Part B items (roughly 1,178 total), with ongoing deduplication, wording checks and tougher distractors. Online, the bank updates in the background and a cold-start log highlights changes (mocks skip pure basics).

How to start

How do I start studying for the combined test?

One-time purchase, every feature: no subscription, no ads, no sign-in. Family Sharing supported. Follow these three steps.

  1. Pick Part A or Part B

Study, weak topics, your most-missed — drill the types you do not know yet.

  2. Open guides and maps

The in-app Guides tab and this site’s articles; knowledge and code items link to sources; place items open maps and encyclopaedia.

  3. Sit a combined mock

Finish A before B. Both parts must pass. Print a PDF or one-tap share a question card with a friend. An in-app pass is only a mock result — the official test still follows TD.

FAQ

What should I know before the combined written test?

Unofficial study advice only. Official arrangements follow the latest Transport Department notices.

What is the combined written test, and how should I study?

The combined written test has Part A (knowledge, places, routes) and Part B (Road Users’ Code). Both parts must pass. Start with section mocks, drill weak topics, recycle misses, then sit a timed combined mock. See the guides hub and study plan.

Is this the official Transport Department app?

No. This is an unofficial study tool by DOBBY MIDNIGHT. Items are paraphrased for study. It is not a product of the Transport Department or the HKSAR Government. Always follow official TD notices.

Do I need a subscription or an account?

No. One-time purchase with every feature unlocked: no subscription, no sign-in, no ads, with Family Sharing (as listed on the App Store).

Does it need a network?

Study and mocks need a network connection (questions stream from our servers). Without a network you cannot continue answering; reconnect to resume.

What is the missed-question collection?

Anonymous stats of items Hong Kong users miss most often, shown as a Top 20 board, plus your own miss pool until you know them. The board needs enough data before it appears and is not official exam difficulty.

How large is the question bank?

About 783 Part A and 395 Part B study items — roughly 1,178 in total — paraphrased from public materials. Combined mocks skip pure basics. The bank is curated with ongoing checks, deduplication and updates (counts may go up or down).

How is the combined mock scored?

It follows the published combined rhythm: Part A 30 items (pass about ≥25), Part B 35 items (pass about ≥30), 65 items in about 45 minutes. Finish A before B; both parts must pass. An in-app pass is not an official result.

How do I report a wrong item?

Tap Report this question on the item, or email dobby.support@gmail.com with the item ID. Do not include your name, phone number, or other personal data.
